Romania raised its standard VAT rate from 19% to 21% effective August 2025, so the 19% figure is now outdated for 2026. The ranking of EU VAT rates above Poland's 23% omits Finland, which sits at 25.5% (raised in 2024) and would also exceed Poland's rate. MSPO Kielce (the Polish defence and security fair) drew 811 exhibiting companies from 35 countries at its 2025 edition, noticeably higher than the roughly 700 exhibitors stated.

    Before

    Poland 23%, Czech Republic 21%, Hungary 27%, Slovakia 23%, Slovenia 22%, Romania 19%, Bulgaria 20%, Croatia 25%

    After

    Poland 23%, Czech Republic 21%, Hungary 27%, Slovakia 23%, Slovenia 22%, Romania 21%, Bulgaria 20%, Croatia 25%
