The exact change
"Reviewing solved problems feels productive but is not. The only productive thing is struggling with a problem you cannot solve. Your error journal is a record of exactly the problems you should be spending time on." - Software engineer, documenting interview preparation process / Karpathy, A. (2014). A Survival Guide to a PhD. Reflections on structured learning applicable to technical preparation.
Reviewing solved problems feels productive but is not. The only productive thing is struggling with a problem you cannot solve. Your error journal is a record of exactly the problems you should be spending time on. / (Karpathy citation removed entirely)
Suggested change
De-attributed the anonymous quote to plain unattributed prose; removed the mistitled/misrepresented Karpathy citation entirely and renumbered remaining references (no orphaned in-text markers existed).
Why this is better
De-attributed an unverified anonymous quote (also removed a second anonymous unverified quote attributed to 'Software Engineer, preparing for FAANG interviews' found in the same article) to plain unattributed prose; removed a mistitled Andrej Karpathy citation (his real post is 'A Survival Guide to a Machine Learning PhD,' an informal blog post) that was presented in an academic-style numbered reference list alongside peer-reviewed papers. No orphaned in-text reference markers existed.
